I hope so! It's getting close to the time that those of us who gotta save up for rooms and the like gotta START saving to be able to go! It'd be nice to know what to save up to.

I'm not trying to sound like a prick, but saving money is something you should the moment you plan on going to a convention.

I'm in charge of publication this year, so I might as well publish this info.
We will be having a small event in 2010, but not a full scale convention. There are two key reasons for this:
1) The US Olympic Figure Skating Tryouts are in Spokane this year, and hotels throughout the city are booked until November of 2010. Any hotel that has available convention space does not have enough rooms, and any hotel that has enough rooms does not have adequate convention space.
2) We came out of 2009 deep in the red, and plan to host smaller, fund-raising oriented events in order to make enough money to make 2011 a really great convention, and hopefully be enough in the black that we aren't dependent on 2012 revenue to run the 2012 con.
To that end, look us up on furbid, we have a few items on the boards and will be adding more. And keep watching the web site; we're trying to get it to a new server, and when that happens, we'll put up announcements there. (The hard part there is finding a geek savvy enough to make the move, who has the time to do it.)

AFF is paid up enough to procede with nonprofit status, and I have been scouring the area for a venue...its unlikely there will be a full con, but we are planning smaller events. I have not yet given up on a full con for 2010...

I have a question about the display spaces, from the Announcements thread. I can't imagine that many potential dealers would be thrilled about selling out of their own rooms- if I read right, it says 'their rooms,' which would meant to me "the rooms they are staying in." Having a bunch of people you don't know wandering in and out of your room is going to be unacceptable to a lot of people, especially the ones who have art supplies and inventory they'd store in their rooms. If this really is the solution, I worry that it would cause a lot of artists to decline to attend.
If there's space for panels and a dance, I have to ask- what's going to draw more attendees- artists or some panels and a dance. It seems to me that artists are one of the major draws of any con- people come to see, order, and buy, while a lot of the other events supplements that activity.. But without people making and selling art, how many people will come? If there's a space big enough for panels and a dance that could be a dealer den, I'd think the dealer space would be better for pulling in artists, who draw attendees. The people who like the dance may be vocal, but I'm willing to bet they're a smaller portion of the fandom than those who come to see art and artists...
And speaking of drawing attendees, have any Guests of Honor been chosen yet?
