 Fursuit and Parade feedback
Suiters, consider things like the headless room and seeing to your needs.
Non-suiters, what did you think of the public suiting?
This is also the place to suggest constructive ideas about suits that may have offended your sensibilities. What would make it fair to those who want to express themselves freely, without squicking you?

I think the biggest controversy was the baby furs and the bondage 'bear'.
From what I've heard of other fur cons, we've been downright tame. Of course, I have probably missed some of the furs by doing things like attending panels, having dinner, sleeping, and not being on the con site 24 hours a day.
I don't recall seeing what I would call a baby fur, other than Whitepaws in the fluffy white outfit, and the young lady with the pacifier. Photo references, perhaps NOT via this forum, would be useful for me to decide if any of the babyfurs were too over the top.
As far as the bondage 'bear' is concerned, I seem to recall seeing wood cuts featuring bears with headgear that looked like what the 'bear' was wearing. That part, which some may associate with bondage, may be one of the few artifacts could be associated with a trained bear, if it weren't done in PVC/Latex.
Some of the other outfits the 'bear' was wearing did hint at bondage, though the leather corset could also imply sword swinging warrior maid.

 Parade Feedback
As far as the Fursuit Parade was concerned, it would be nice if conditions were better for those of us whose 'costumes' are cameras.
Bad lighting conditions can simply be handled by a good strobe flash or two, though specialty lighting would be good.
But the biggest problem on the digital photographer's side is the pacing of the Parade itself.
When fursuiters come by too fast, you start losing shots because the flash isn't ready or the images are loading to memory. You also may have problems focusing, especially if lighting conditions are marginal. Plus framing the fursuiter becomes a matter of chance, which means you can't get very good closeups.
Then there are those instances where you have a clump of fursuiters coming by. The fursuiter in the lead is easy to photograph. The ones behind them are obscured. (Of course, a clump of fursuiters that are clowning around together can be a good photo op under the right conditions.)
I will admit that I'm shooting RAW format, so that my download to camera memory speeds are greatly limited. I do that so that I can keep the detail of the photograph and still make adjustments with exposure speed, white balance and other features. (One does NOT want to do a lot of work with JPEGs as the master copy. Quality degrades much too quickly.)
Members of next year's AFF photography team have been discussing ways of making photo conditions for the Fur Parade better. We'll need to get together with the fursuiters so that we can get their opinions on what needs to be done to make their lives easier. (And, as an after effect, more photogenic.)

To save time pretty much 3/4 of what Geek said concerning, grouping/spacing of furs, lighting conditions making it hard, focusing, camera speeds for saving pics, and missed photo ops. Were the things that disappointed me when I tried to get some pics in. And since this is a small con and nothing like AC I am sure we don't have to rush through the events like this one. Unless a fursuiter is having to much of a problem with heat in his fursuit. But if that is the case I am sure the staff can work out some arrangements to make it work for everyone.
And to clear things up about bondage bear. I believe he told me it was a pine marten xP so like half of us are off with the species. For me I was fine with it.... but then again the whole bondage stuff is one of my interests xP But I'll put that aside for now. Though I already said something about this earlier in another topic. Since the staff is looking for a new hotel to hold it at. It might be best to find a place where us furs can have some kind of like main lobby area with easy access to the key rooms. Where "normal people" won't get offended by what they see made it be the bondage stuff or run away in the other direction. Sure there will be a few moments where we cannot prevent this no matter where it is but if its out of sight from general public at least 90% of the time then it should be fine IMO. But concerning his attire for the fursuit I would say its fine as long as he isn't trying to engage of acts of like dry humping for a example. If its just to show off then its fine but when it comes to creating a show that is going overboard then something should be done.
If this sounds to confusing let me know. I can try rewording it to make it easier >.o

Well, another complaint I heard form other suiters was the path of the parade going up stairs and such (but with the layout of the hotel, I guess there wasn't much choice), The moving of the headless lounge so often, and the general setup of the lounge itself (having it at the top of the stairs with mirrors that can be used to look in on them doesn't make them happy). one more thing i could suggest. Is it possible to rent out some of those water dispensers liek they have at offices and such and place them around the con? That would help them greatly, not to mention make other con goers happy as well.

With lots and lots of long straws.
Furs would be on their honor to not take them just for toys.

I had heard rumors that the 'bear' was a pine marten, which is why I kept putting quotes around the word 'bear'. I do have to say that the variety of outfits the pine marten was wearing showed how you can take one fursuit and create quite a few 'moods' simply with costuming and accessories.

Well when I was talking to him I do recall him saying it wasn't a bear fursuit. Its a pine marten.
But with the various outfits he had for it was rather interesting. It just sucks I couldn't get there friday to see the ones I missed.

The only thing that I heard was we need water that doesnt have fur in it. =D
No powder based drinks? We cant mix drinks in suit. XD
More space for a lounge! Designate a room "con ops" room for FS lounge/suit storage and then a remote one for out on the floor.
Those where the main complaints in the fusuit lounge.

There was fur in the drinks?
Powder-based drinks would work fine, as long as there was a handler or someone monitoring them.
In fact, purrhaps we should get one of those giant gatorade coolers and keep it filled and iced?

Ten gallon cooler, with lots of ice blocks, always topped off with Gatorade or related substance.
Though two or three five gallon coolers would work too, allowing different flavors to be used. I find that lemonade tends to work well for rehydration when doing Civil War reenacting or spending time at a Ren Faire. Of course, that garb tends to be easier to handle then fursuits, within the range I do it in.

I think this will fall under my new duties. I will clarify that with the boss, and if it is, start in to research on the best sources for coolers.
